Imphal, 18 July 2026: Ravalico College Hostel joyfully welcomed 30 new hostellers with a vibrant Freshers’ Day 2026 celebration held on 18 July 2026 at 6.00 p.m. in the Hostel Hall. The colourful event marked the beginning of a new academic journey for the students and reflected the hostel’s commitment to creating a warm, caring, and inspiring environment where young people can grow academically, socially, spiritually, and personally. The evening featured prayer, the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, cultural performances, introductions of the freshers, inspirational messages, cake cutting, and sharing of Salesian spirit.
The programme began with a prayer led by Fr Benny James SDB, the director of the hostel, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Fr Igness Hans SDB, Rector and Fr Lucas SDB, Administrator of Don Bosco Chingmeirong. Heikungam, a first-year degree student, delivered the welcome address, while hostel students presented lively cultural and musical performances. The freshers from Plus II, Degree, Emporium, and Coaching programmes introduced themselves, sharing their academic backgrounds, aspirations, hobbies, and reasons for choosing Ravalico College Hostel. Through these introductions, the newcomers quickly became part of the hostel family, embodying the hostel’s motto, “Together Towards Excellence.”
A special highlight of the evening was the felicitation of Fr Igness Hans SDB on the successful completion of his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.). The hostel community congratulated him on this significant academic achievement and thanked him for his dedication to scholarship and education. The occasion also served as an opportunity to extend a heartfelt welcome to Fr Lucas SDB, the newly appointed Administrator of Don Bosco Chingmeirong. The gathering assured him of their prayers and support as he begins his new ministry.
Addressing the students, the Rector and other speakers encouraged the freshers to dream big, remain disciplined, and make responsible use of every opportunity offered during their hostel life. They reminded the students that success is built not only through academic excellence but also through character formation, leadership, friendship, and service to others. The inspiring messages motivated the newcomers to begin their journey with confidence, commitment, and purpose.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Hostel Captain – Felix, followed by the Don Bosco Hymn and grace before the meal. The celebrations ended on a delightful note as all the hostellers and invited guests shared a sumptuous dinner, providing an opportunity for fellowship, interaction, and the strengthening of bonds within the Ravalico College Hostel family. The evening truly reflected the Salesian spirit of welcome, joy, and community, leaving the freshers with cherished memories as they embarked on a new chapter of their lives.
