About CRI
The Catholic Religious of India (CRI) is a national forum of Catholic men and women religious congregations and institutes in India. Established to foster deeper communion, collaboration, and co-responsibility among religious institutes, CRI engages in prayer, dialogue, service, and advocacy for religious life in the Church and society. CRI serves as a platform to:
- Promote mutual understanding and unity among religious congregations,
- Facilitate common reflection on issues affecting religious life,
- Encourage collaborative responses to social, pastoral, and humanitarian challenges,
- Uphold the dignity and charism of religious vocations in India.
The central vision of CRI is to strengthen the witness of consecrated life in the Church and to respond to contemporary needs with courage, fidelity, and compassionate service.
CRI Manipur – A Local Expression of National Collaboration
The CRI Manipur Unit forms part of this national body, bringing together religious men and women serving in different parts of the diocese and ministries across the state of Manipur. We are committed to fostering unity among diverse religious congregations, promoting spiritual renewal, encouraging collaborative outreach, and addressing challenges faced by consecrated life in our local context.
The CRI Manipur Unit works with the spirit of communion as envisioned by the Church, offering support to member congregations, promoting shared initiatives, and facilitating regular meetings, spiritual formation programs, and common pastoral responses.

Mission & Activities of CRI Manipur
In alignment with the vision of Catholic Religious of India, the Manipur unit actively engages in:
- Spiritual Renewal – Organising retreats, recollections, and prayer initiatives for member religious.
- Formation & Education – Conducting formation programmes for ongoing growth in consecrated life.
- Pastoral Collaboration – Facilitating joint responses to pastoral needs in parishes, schools, and local communities.
- Social Outreach – Partnering with Church and civil institutions to address social issues with compassion and integrity.
- Advocacy & Representation – Representing the concerns of religious life at diocesan and regional platforms.
- Annual General Body Meeting – It organizes two general body meetings, one in the first half of the year for all CRI members as whole in Imphal and the second in the second half of the year, towards Christmas in the five regions of CRI Manipur.
