Around 32 religious gathered at Carmel Jyoti, Koirengei, on 9 August 2025 for a day of recollection and the election of new office bearers for the Conference of Religious India (CRI), Manipur Unit.
The gathering brought together religious men and women from different congregations for a time of prayer, reflection and fraternity, followed by the election of the new leadership team for the CRI Manipur Unit.
Fr Benny James SDB was elected as the President of CRI Manipur. Although he was unable to be present at the gathering, the assembly elected him to lead the unit for the new term. Sr Arpita Therese SMMI was elected as the Secretary, while Sr Maria Dilbung FMA was re-elected as Vice President for a second term. Sr Angeli FCC was appointed as the Treasurer.
The gathering noted with gratitude the contribution of the outgoing office bearers. The assembly expressed its sincere appreciation to Sr Rosin SABS, the outgoing Secretary, for her dedicated service and leadership to the CRI Manipur Unit.
The meeting also acknowledged the service of Fr Philip PC SDB, who had already left Manipur following his transfer.
Notably, only two men religious were present at the gathering, highlighting the predominant participation of women religious in the CRI Manipur Unit.
The newly elected team expressed its commitment to strengthening fraternity and collaboration among the religious congregations and to promoting the common mission of consecrated life in Manipur.
The gathering concluded with a fellowship lunch, providing an opportunity for the participants to continue their interaction and strengthen the bonds of communion.
The new leadership of CRI Manipur now looks forward to a renewed journey of collaboration and service, guided by the spirit of “One Heart and One Soul.”
