Inauguration and Blessing of St. Mary’s Convent, Keihao,

Keihao, Manipur – 6 August 2025: A moment of great joy and thanksgiving marked the inauguration and blessing of St. Mary’s Convent, Keihao. The newly constructed convent, a long-cherished dream of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC), was formally opened in the presence of Salesians, catechists, religious sisters, lay leaders, and well-wishers from the local community and surrounding areas.

The ceremony began with a solemn blessing of the building, invoking God’s protection and grace upon the new residence by Fr Benny James SDB, the previous economer of the Province. A short prayer service, hymns of thanksgiving, and words of encouragement created a spiritual atmosphere, befitting the occasion. The cutting of the ribbon as a sign of inauguration was done by Sr Daisy MSMHC, the General Councillor for Finance. The gathering was a testimony to the strong bonds of collaboration and mutual support between the Salesians and the MSMHC Sisters, who have been serving the people of Keihao with dedication and missionary zeal.

Since their arrival in 2020, the sisters lived under make-shift conditions, faithfully performing their ministry, educational, and social service apostolate notwithstanding the hardships. The completion of this permanent building is not only a material fulfillment but a milestone on the mission road of the sisters — a place of prayers, community life, and renewed service to the people of the place.

May St. Mary’s Convent be a place of peace, the centre of faith formation, and the source of hope for all those coming into contact with it. We pray God to bless the sisters further as they venture on this new milestone of life and ministry in Keihao.
